Dr. Girish Subramanyan is a psychiatrist in full-time private practice in San Francisco specializing in the treatment of adults with mood and anxiety disorders, including treatment-resistant mood and anxiety disorders. He is Board Certified as a Diplomat by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Subramanyan’s areas of interest and expertise include the pharmacotherapy of more severe, medication-resistant Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorders and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. He is interested in the evolving therapies and technologies in the treatment of these conditions, including brain stimulation technologies, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, and novel pharmacotherapies.
Dr. Subramanyan has had a long-standing interest in the field of mental health. He studied psychology and biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Subramanyan completed his residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (U.C.S.F.), where he focused on the psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy of mood and anxiety disorders. There, he received the Edwin Alston Award for Distinguished Achievement by a Physician in the Integration of Psychiatry Practice.
In his private practice, Dr. Subramanyan focuses on close collaboration with area psychotherapists who practice evidence-based treatments for mood and anxiety disorders.
